Epoxy floors are kind of like low-maintenance friends. They don’t ask for much, but they still appreciate a little attention now and then.
A lot of people assume epoxy floors are bulletproof. And they mostly are. They shrug off oil, water, dust, and chemicals. But even the toughest surface starts to dull if you don’t take care of it.
The good news is: maintenance is easy.
Start with the basics. Sweep or dust mop regularly. Grit and sand may look harmless, but they act like sandpaper over time. If you leave it there, it grinds down the shine.
For cleaning, warm water and a soft mop do most of the work. You don’t need harsh cleaners. In fact, you should avoid them. Citrus-based or acidic cleaners can break down the coating over time. A mild solution of water and ammonia works best.
If you spill oil or paint, clean it up quickly. Epoxy resists stains, but only if you give it a chance to. Let it sit too long, and you might be stuck with a reminder.
And once every few years, consider resealing. It’s like waxing a car. You don’t have to, but it keeps everything looking sharp.
People like epoxy floors because they’re easy. And they are. But easy doesn’t mean zero effort. A little care goes a long way—especially if you want your floor to keep looking like new.
